Anonymous asked : Would you please credit the translators - of Neruda (more than one?) and of Rumi?
A harder request than you might think! Had to do some digging, but I think I’ve got the right information.
The first Neruda clip I posted was from the movie Truly, Madly, Deeply. That translation was done by Donald D. Walsh, according to this.
The Madonna and Samuel L. Jackson readings were from a soundtrack to a movie called Il Postino. Translations are attributed to Ben Belitt, Ken Krabbenhoft, Stephen Tapscott, and W.S. Merwin, according to this.
Andrew Scott’s reading was translated by Stephen Tapscott, from his book Cien Sonetos de Amor. You can preview that on Google Books here.
Tilda Swinton’s reading of Rumi is translated by Coleman Barks and John Moyne, according to a “fanshrine” website which can be found here.
Jared Harris’s reading is from an album called Gift of Love, and is also translated by Coleman Barks. You can find that here.
